Great write up on early origins of Mike's Song! My top 2 most seen songs are Weekapaug Groove (78) and Mike's Song (77). After seeing Binghampton '92 the next one that blew my mind and is worth listening to is SUNY Geneseo 4.25.93. The Mike's part goes into some really dark places. Fog and strobe lights were thick. Trey "singing" some Dance on Grave through the madness. Not mentioned in this piece, so thought I would give it a shout out!

Love this! Cool that intelligent analysis is happening in the forums. Always loved the Warfield version from that spring and the Orlando Nellie Cane sandwich. The 3/9 Colorado Springs version too is a fave. A lot of jam-charted versions 'cause a lot of nights on that tour the Paug was the only song they'd really jam! There are a few overall great shows from spring '93 but plenty of nights where you might as well just skip to the Paug.

This is an outstanding piece of Phish scholarship! You’ve done a terrific job of framing the wider historical context of the “before and after” and really capture what was going on at the time with a great balance of stats and examples. And thanks for the recommendations - I haven’t spent much time with 92-93 Phish in a long time but am excited to now dive back into that era .

You lucky SOB for seeing that Binghamton show. I turned my friend onto that show and he passed by a building engulfed in flames while listening to that Weekapaug. Love that Mike’s Groove and the 1st set is one of my favorite 1st sets. That Antelope is one of my personal favorites. And my poor wife was unaware of the Phish when attending Geneseo and I gifted her a copy of that show when we were dating.
